Theme Version Organization and Portfolio Work

Today I have worked on getting the different versions of the theme that are spreads on different computers, into the same git|github repository. There are still some work to do but it’s starting to make some sense.

So instead of actually doing some development work, most of today was put into this organizing issue. Well, I guess you sometime have to create some sort of structure before you can actually start.

I managed to change the logo and favicon and made some smaller adjustments, most not visible.

However, when you are about to get back to your projects it can sometimes be a good idea to think a bit before you start and try to come up with some sort of plan. Instead of just “jumping in”. Especially if you have left your work “hanging” for a long time period.

For example, doing some research before you start and go through what needs to be done (“inventory”) can be a good thing and likely save you some time in the end. And then of course, sometimes you don’t even know where to start…

In either case, this type of “context switching” I guess is common for web developers. Often shifting contexts, jumping into new projects and so on. Sometimes frustrating but other times quite fun, to try different things.

Last week I worked on a todo app with express and react, and a frontend in react for WordPress but today I felt I needed to work on the portfolio. There is some new things to add and to continue to work on the bootstrap based theme.

Later on, I hope to be able to add some SPA style page view transitions.
